Russia Accidentally Launches Entire Missile Arsenal At Kyiv, Hits Only One Very Specific Pigeon
Defense officials confirm the pigeon, named 'Borys,' had been 'asking for it for years,' according to neighbors

KYIV — In what military analysts are calling 'the most expensive bird removal operation in recorded history,' Russian forces launched an overnight barrage of missiles and drones at the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv early Thursday, resulting in the confirmed neutralization of one pigeon, the displacement of a garden gnome, and what witnesses describe as 'a very startled cat.' The assault, which reportedly involved no fewer than 47 separate projectiles, has left defense experts questioning the cost-per-pigeon ratio of modern warfare.
Borys, a 4-year-old rock dove who authorities say had been loitering near the Pechersk district 'with suspicious regularity,' was confirmed deceased at approximately 2:14 a.m. local time. 'We always knew Borys was up to something,' said retired pensioner Halyna Kovalenko, 71, clutching a broom and gesturing meaningfully at nothing. 'He had very shifty eyes. For a pigeon.'
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko held an emergency press conference at dawn, appearing composed despite having a small piece of someone else's chimney on his shoulder. 'The people of Kyiv are resilient,' Klitschko announced gravely. 'Borys, less so.' He then held a moment of silence that lasted exactly one second before pivoting to discuss missile defense funding.
Senior Russian military spokesman General Dmitri Absolutelynotmyrealname told state media the operation was 'a tremendous success by all meaningful metrics,' adding that the drone swarm had been specifically calibrated for 'maximum pigeon-seeking capability' and that additional missions targeting 'two suspicious sparrows in Lviv' were currently under review. He declined to comment on reports that three drones had become confused and spent forty minutes circling a Kyiv Burger King before running out of fuel.
NATO released a statement expressing 'grave concern' over the incident and pledging an emergency summit to discuss the 'pigeon gap' that has allegedly been growing between Eastern and Western Europe since 2019. Meanwhile, Ukrainian air defense forces claimed to have intercepted 43 of the 47 projectiles, suggesting Borys had tragically fallen through what officials referred to as 'the other four.' A GoFundMe for a bronze Borys statue has already raised the equivalent of fourteen dollars and a jar of pickles.
As of press time, Kyiv residents reported returning to their daily routines with remarkable speed, several stopping to leave sunflower seeds at the site of Borys's passing in what is being described as either a touching tribute or, according to one local theologian, 'definitely going to attract more pigeons.'
